Ok, here we go. Opening the Beco box
Unfolding the Butterfly 2 partway with the pretty side down and all the straps showing
Flip it over and unfold the headrest / sleeping hood. It arrived attached with 2 snaps to the carrier body and a choice of snaps on each longer strip attaches the hood to each shoulder strap. The sides of the hood are elasticized now, so this was really responsive of Beco and will make it much more usable in the real world.
Close up of the Emma print . Check out the exciting little “custom edition” label right above the usual Beco logo. The dots on each side of the custom label are where the sleeping hood snaps on, but I took that off for this photo.
Flip it over and unbuckle the carrier body from the shoulder straps to reveal the infant insert inside. It attaches at the top of the carrier with smaller buckles. See both buckled, see one unbuckled and pulled back, then see both unbuckled to reveal all sorts of safety and proper use info
OK, this next picture leaves the carrier exactly as above, but the angle shows you how the bottom of the infant insert attaches. see the velcro? There are two fat velcro strips running vertical under all that writing, and the base of the infant insert is a fat horizontal peice of velcro. Together, this means you can adjust the height of the Butterfly insert to wherever you want it, eventually pulling it out entirely.
But then, what of the little buckle on the carrier body? If baby is 15 pounds and you don’t need the infant insert, what becomes of the stray buckle?
You hide it in the stretchy little sleeve on the strap right next to it
Hope this helps!
